or double-sided strap Tutorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Easy to sew, a double-sided strap is also a pretty way to reduce the thickness of a vinyl shoulder strap by pairing it with cotton.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Two-tone or double-sided strap tutorial<\/h2>\n<p>There are several ways to make a double-sided strap, this is my favorite, which reveals<strong>\u00a0a small border on the right side<\/strong> (like the handles of the Cabotin bag).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Cut<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Cut 2 strips, one in each fabric.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bottom fabric \/ Wrong side of the strap :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Width =<\/strong>\u00a02 x desired width of the shoulder strap. <em>Example: for a finished 2.5 cm (1&#8243;) shoulder strap cut a 2.5 cm x 2 = 5 cm (1&#8243; x 2 = 2&#8243;) wide strip.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Length =\u00a0<\/strong>140 cm (55&#8243;) minimum for an adjustable shoulder strap (<a href=\"https:\/\/sacotin.com\/en\/adjustable-strap-tutorial\/\">adjustable shoulder strap tutorial<\/a>) &#8211; or 60 cm to 70 cm (24&#8243; to 28&#8243;) for handles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Top fabric \/ Right side of the strap :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Width =<\/strong>\u00a0width of the bottom strip &#8211; 1 cm. <em>Example: for the example above where the bottom strip is 5 cm (2&#8243;) wide : 5 cm &#8211; 1 cm = 4 cm (2&#8243;- 3\/8&#8243; = 1\u00a0 5\/8&#8243;).<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Length =<\/strong>\u00a0same as the bottom strip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For a vinyl + cotton strap<\/strong>, cut the bottom (widest) strip in vinyl and the top strip in cotton.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>**Tip: you can substitute\u00a0bias binding for the top strip and webbing for the bottom strip !**<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38925\" center;\">Interfacing<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you make a <strong>strap entirely in cotton<\/strong>, interface the two strips.<\/li>\n<li>For a<strong> vinyl + cotton shoulder strap<\/strong>, the interfacing is only necessary if your vinyl and \/ or your cotton is light weight, in this case interface the cotton strip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Finishing the ends<\/h3>\n<div class=\"tlid-input input\">\n<div class=\"source-wrap\">\n<div class=\"input-full-height-wrapper tlid-input-full-height-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"source-input\">\n<div class=\"source-footer-wrap source-or-target-footer\">\n<div class=\"character-count tlid-character-count\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"source-footer\">\n<div class=\"src-tts left-positioned ttsbutton need to finish the ends<\/strong>.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On the other hand, if the ends will be visible once the bag is done and the fabric frays, it will be necessary to finish them either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By using metal strap ends : in this case, the ends of the strap will simply be hidden, once the shoulder strap is finished, in the metal ends.<\/li>\n<li>By folding 1 cm (3\/8&#8243;) to the wrong side\u00a0at each end of the 2 strips.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-38982 gallery-columns-2 strap:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Technique 1<\/strong> for a vinyl + cotton strap.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Technique 2<\/strong> when the 2 strips of fabric can be iron pressed &#8211; Example: 2 cotton strips.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Technique 1 &#8211; Vinyl + cotton\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>1- <strong>Draw a line in the center of each strip<\/strong> (I use a Frixion erasable pen). These lines will serve as a guide for folding.<\/p>\n<p>2-\u00a0Take the vinyl strip (widest) and fold one of the long edges, wrong sides together, to align it with the center line. narrowest strip.
