Meet Gota, the stylish insulated lunch bag pattern!
The pattern can also be sewn as a handbag or a spacious toiletry bag!
Video: in addition to the detailed illustrated instructions in the PDF, 2 videos show how to assemble the Gota bag.
The Gota pattern comes with an additional PDF file designed for projector use.
The stylish lunch bag, handbag, or toiletry bag pattern
With its sleek silhouette, Gota doesn’t look like a lunch bag… and that’s exactly the point.
The pattern can also be used to sew a spacious toiletry bag.
Want to turn it into a handbag?
It’s possible! See page 5 of the PDF for the suggested adaptations.

Effective insulation and neat finish
Its full zippered closure helps preserve freshness.
The interior is lined for a refined finish.

Storage
- a pleated pocket with flap and tuck lock at the front
- a zippered pocket at the back
- optional: an interior mesh pocket with dividers
2 carrying options
Gota can be carried by hand with the handles or over the shoulder thanks to its detachable strap.
Dimensions
- Gota Small: width 25 cm (9 7/8″) × height 19 cm (7 1/2″) × depth 14.5 cm (5 3/4″).
- Gota Medium: width 25 cm (9 7/8″) × height 22 cm (8 5/8″) × depth 17 cm (6 3/4″).

Skill level for the Gota pattern
The skill level of the Gota pattern varies depending on the version sewn:
- Lunch bag version: intermediate to advanced level
- Handbag or toiletry bag version: intermediate level
Why this difference in level? Because of the insulated fabric, which increases the technical difficulty of the lunch bag version.
Here are the testers’ votes regarding the pattern’s skill level, with the vast majority having sewn the lunch bag version:
Videos to guide you
I filmed and edited 2 videos to guide you through sewing your Gota bag.
They show the assembly, without audio commentary, of the Gota bag in size Small. The assembly technique remains the same for the Medium size. The specifics of the Medium size are, of course, detailed in the PDF.
I presented the assembly of Gota in 2 videos:
- the 1st for assembling the bag exterior,
- the 2nd for assembling the lining and finishing.
The videos are divided into chapters for quick access to the part of the assembly you want to watch.
The videos are password-protected, and the password can be found in the pattern PDF. The password must be entered in UPPERCASE.

Gota Medium – burgundy and glitter
Gota Medium: width 25 cm (9 7/8″) × height 22 cm (8 5/8″) × depth 17 cm (6 3/4″).
- Fabric #1: Meursault burgundy vinyl. With this model, this vinyl is at the limit of what my home sewing machine can handle. If your machine doesn’t have high capacity, I recommend choosing bag canvas or a thinner vinyl.
- Fabric #2: Swarovski glitter gray vinyl.
- Lining: Corfou black coated cotton.
- Insulated fabric: Fjord from La Mercerie des Créateurs.
- Burgundy zippers.

Gota Small – Navy blue and mustard
Gota Small: width 25 cm (9 7/8″) × height 19 cm (7 1/2″) × depth 14.5 cm (5 3/4″).
- Fabric #1: Vérone navy blue vinyl.
- Fabric #2: Vérone mustard vinyl.
- Fabric #3 (front pocket): Pretty Woman Night tweed.
- Lining: Paulette orange coated cotton.
- Insulated fabric: Fjord from La Mercerie des Créateurs.
- Navy blue zippers.

Gota Small – Beige and neon yellow
Gota Small: width 25 cm (9 7/8″) × height 19 cm (7 1/2″) × depth 14.5 cm (5 3/4″).
One of the first working prototypes in a fun neon version.

- Fabric #2: Vérone neon yellow vinyl.
- Lining: floral coated cotton.
- Insulated fabric: Fjord from La Mercerie des Créateurs.
- Beige zippers.
