The elegant and feminine baguette bag pattern
Nova is a feminine and elegant baguette bag, closed with a zipper.
Its silhouette is enhanced by pleats and a curved panel, delicately highlighted by piping.
An optional finish without piping is also included in the PDF.
Practical interior pockets
The Nova bag features interior pockets: a divided patch pocket and a zippered pocket.
Comfortable and customizable wear
We have all experienced this issue: straps slipping off the shoulder on small bags when there are two of them.
For Nova, I chose a single short shoulder strap, designed for an elegant carry, with 4 connectors for a more balanced and comfortable fit on the shoulder.
And as everyone has their own preferences, I have also included in the pattern the necessary instructions to easily adapt how it is worn to suit your needs. You can therefore make:
- a version with 2 handles
- a longer shoulder strap
- or, on the contrary, a shorter one.
The instructions needed for these adaptations are included in the PDF.

- Nova Small – Ideal for outings, ceremonies and evenings, chic and compact: W 25 cm (9 7/8″) x H 15 cm (5 7/8″) x D 12 cm (4 3/4″)
- Nova Medium – Perfect for everyday use, roomier while remaining elegant: W 30 cm (11 3/4″) x H 18 cm (7 1/8″) x D 12 cm (4 3/4″)
Nova pattern level
Here are the testers’ votes regarding the pattern level.
The majority placed it between beginner and intermediate, which also matches my own assessment.
However, when considering all the votes, 50% classified it as intermediate or below, and 50% as intermediate or above. I therefore chose to rate Nova as intermediate level.
It should be noted that none of the testers considered it an advanced-level pattern.
Videos to guide you
I have filmed and edited 2 videos to help you sew your Nova bag.
They show the assembly, without audio commentary, of the Nova bag in Small size. The construction technique is the same for the Medium size. The specific details for the Medium size are, of course, indicated in the PDF.
I have therefore divided the assembly into 2 videos:
- the 1st for assembling the exterior of the bag,
- the 2nd for assembling the lining and finishing.
The videos are chaptered for quick access to the part of the assembly you want to watch.
The videos are password protected, and the password can be found in the pattern PDF. The password must be entered in UPPERCASE.
