Volte, a feminine, urban and secure backpack pattern
Secure access with opening at the back
The placement of the opening on the Volte backpack prevents it from being opened when you carry it, and no outside pocket will tempt the curious.
Coordinated Volte pouch
Volte has a divided patch pocket inside.
There is no zippered pocket in this bag because, after multiple tests, no positioning of the pocket satisfied me for easy and convenient daily use. So rather than putting an inside zippered pocket, just to put a zippered pocket, you have a bonus pattern for a coordinated pouch to slip into Volte 🙂 (pattern and instructions included in the PDF).
Two-tone repositionable straps
Volte has adjustable, two-tone straps.
These shoulder straps are repositionable for a shoulder bag carrying option.
2 sizes for the Volte backpack and 1 size for its pouch
The Volte pattern includes 2 sizes for the bag and 1 size for the pouch.
The photos of the 2 Volte sizes worn by Sandra (below) will help you visualize the dimensions.
I really like the Small size for a compact backpack that allows you to carry a bit more than the essentials (yes the Complice wallet fits in the Small).
- Volte Small : width 24 cm (9 1/2″) x height 26 cm (10″) x depth 9 cm (3 1/2″).
- Volte Medium : width 29 cm (11 3/8″) x height 31 cm (12″) x depth 11 cm (4 3/8″).
- Volte pouch : width 20 cm (7 7/8″) x height 15 cm (5 7/8″).
Level
I’ve rated the Folk pattern as advanced beginner level.
70 % of the 17 testers of the Volte pattern ranked it between beginner and intermediate levels.
Choice of the name Volte
As you may have noticed, I like to give dance names to my patterns 🙂
I often choose this name by association of ideas, for Volte it was the same:
- “The volte is a three-step dance from Provence. Lively and spinning”
- “Volte-face” > you have to turn the bag over to open it.
- “Vault” > sounds like the French word “Volte”, a nod to the bag’s secure style.
