Madison is an elegant and practical bag with a zippered divider pocket that organizes the inside of the bag into 3 sections. And psst… the pattern includes two bag sizes !
{Madison} Elegant compartmentalized bag pattern
I have been wanting to create a compartmentalized handbag pattern for a while, it’s now done with Madison!
I ranked the pattern an intermediate level but the testers, and I share their opinion, feel that the pattern is also suitable for motivated/advanced beginners.
An organized interior
As I said in the introduction, a zippered divider pocket creates three spaces inside the bag. 2 patch pockets complement the storage spaces.
A triangle shaped bottom to play with contrasts
Contrasting colors and / or materials will showcase the design of the bag bottom that curves up in a triangle shape on the sides.
I love this aspect of the bag and it is easy to sew it neatly.
The triangular flap with magnetic snap echoes the shape of the bottom.
The pattern includes 2 bag sizes
Madison for those who never separate from the essential and Grand Madison for those who like to have everything on hand.
Madison dimensions: width 30 cm (12″), height 25 cm (10″), depth 12 cm (5″).
Grand Madison dimensions : width 35 cm (14″), height 30 cm (12″), depth 12 cm (5″).
Personally I have a weakness for Large bags and I sewed a Grand Madison just for me, with a print that I love: Ghastly Family by Alexander Henry.
Instructions & pattern
Madison is an intermediate or motivated beginner level pattern.
The detailed, illustrated instructions are 15 pages long.
17 pages are devoted to the full size pattern pieces. There are that many pages for the pattern pieces because I decided to separate the patterns for the two sizes: 8 pages are for Madison and 9 pages for Grand Madison.
In the PDF file you’ll find :
