Disco is an elegant and feminine crossbody bag. It’s also the 50th Sacôtin pattern !

The Disco bag pattern includes 2 sizes.

The Disco pattern is supplied with an additional projector friendly PDF file.

Disco, the feminine crossbody bag

The bag is perfectly secured by a zipper AND a flap.

Compact, Disco is also practical with its large opening, its adjustable strap and its 3 pockets : one slit and one zippered inside, and an optional zippered pocket at the back of the bag to get quick access to a transport card, a badge, keys…

Its flap is ideal to showcase a beautiful fabric.
The flap will close with either a twist lock or a magnetic snap.

I personally find a twist lock more suited to the Disco bag.

A Clever assembly

The assembly of the bag is done without bias binding or hand sewing, which is quite rare for this type of rounded bags with a large zippered opening

And of course the interior is cleanly finished, with no visible seams and the lining sits perfectly in the bag.

Disco Medium (city bag) : W 25.5 cm (10″) x H 20.5 cm (8″) x D 6 cm (2 3/8″).

7 of the 15 testers of the Disco pattern found it to be “Between intermediate and advanced”, 5 found it of “Intermediate” level, and 3 found it of “Advanced” level.

So I gave it the “Between intermediate and advanced” level. Which is a good surprise for me because, without the testers feedback, I would have given it an advanced level.

Flexible foam and hold

My advice to avoid creating difficulties for yourself:

If you choose vinyl or faux-leather, prefer a thin and flexible one. Avoid stiff and thick vinyls which will make assembly and a good finish difficult.
You may be tempted to add flexible foam to the fabric pieces to make a stiffer bag. I don’t recommend it because the larger volume will greatly increase the difficulty of the final assembly, see box on page 5 of PDF.

Piping Tips

For easier curves and the best visual result, I recommend piping with a 4.5-5 mm cord (= total piping width approx. 15 mm – 5/8″), rather than a thin 2-2.5 mm cord (= total piping width approx. 10 mm – 3/8″)
