New Sacôtin pattern : Mambo is a zippered bag pattern, ideal to show off any print… in 3 sizes !

{Mambo} Zippered bag pattern in 3 sizes

Mambo is an urban, practical zippered bag, ideal to show off any print!

Practical, Mambo has 4 pockets. The V-shaped design hides a slip pocket closed by a magnetic snap. Mambo also has a back zippered pocket as well as a patch pocket and a zippered pocket in the lining, to help you stay organized and secure.

Mambo closes with a zipper.

Mambo design is ideal to show off any print, play with contrasts or use 2 similar tones in 2 different materials (see the brown Mambo Large below).

With its adjustable strap, you can wear Mambo over the shoulder or as a crossbody bag.

3 sizes for Mambo !

The pattern includes 3 sizes :

  • Small – your compact and spacious city bag – width 25 cm (10″) x height 20 cm (8″) x depth at the base 10 cm (4″).
  • Medium – a big organized city bag – width 30 cm (12″) x height 25 cm (10″) x depth at the base 12 cm (5″).
  • Large – your student version for any A4 files/folders or your notebook – width 35 cm (14″) x height 30 cm (12″) x depth at the base 12 cm (5″).

Flexible foam is optional for a more structured bag (flexible foam tutorial). I recommend its use for the Large size especially.

New techniques

Because this is also why you like Sacôtin patterns, I have included new assembly techniques for the bases of the strap, zippered back pocket,…

You will also find on the blog a tutorial to learn how to install a metal zipper end for a pro finish! A finish with a fabric tab is explained in the pattern instructions.

Mambo Medium velvet and vinyl/faux-leather

Velvet “vintage Art Déco“, interfaced with one layer of Vlieseline (= vilene) G700.
Faux-leather “caïman bleu canard”. This vinyl is thick with a fleece backing, so I peeled off this fleece in the seam allowance to reduce the thickness of the seams.
Flexible foam basted on the lining.

Mambo worn !

Here are some pictures of the bags worn. We took the pictures one day of strong frozen Mistral (a strong wind here in Provence), so we did it really fast!
